Knowing that the President is set to retool the same vague, unrealistic solutions for rampant unemployment tomorrow, we thought we’d try one last time to remind him of a super simple solution to create hundreds of thousands of jobs: let the oil and gas industry resume operations in the Gulf of Mexico at their historic pace.
Rather than continuing to enable Interior’s slow pace of permitting indicative of the past 11 months, the President could tell Secretary Salazar to clear the backlog of pending exploration plans and permit applications. That would release an additional $19 billion stimulus in capital expenditures held up by unprocessed paperwork.
